[Forum] Voluntarios para Algeciras, tráfico de macacos.

Hola a todos,

Os envío estos textos (también en forma de archivo) en inglés y castellano 
que me ha hecho llegar una compañera que busca voluntarios para su proyecto 
en contra del tráfico de macacos desde Marruecos.

¿POR QUÉ?
AAP, un centro de rescate de animales exóticos en Holanda, IUCN Holanda 
junto a ANDA (Asociación Nacional para la Defensa de los Animales) está 
buscando voluntarios para ayudar con el programa educacional en el puerto de 
Algeciras. Muchos europeos de origen marroquí van a Marruecos durante el 
verano en sus vacaciones y allí son tentados para comprar animales salvajes, 
especialmente crías de macaco de Gibraltar. Si lo hacen los traen consigo 
hacia Europa. Se estima que 300 crías de macaco de Gibraltar son capturadas 
de la libertad cada año en Marruecos, y si esto continúa, la población 
actual que disminuye rápidamente desaparecerá en un futuro cercano.

Una vez en Europa las crías de macaco acaban en casas privadas, santuarios, 
en la calle o son eutanasiadas por las autoridades. El problema es tan 
grande que muchos santuarios europeos han cerrado las puertas a acoger más 
animales por falta de espacio.

Queremos concienciar a los 2 millones de personas que este verano cruzarán 
el Estrecho de Gibraltar, en su camino hacia Marruecos, para evitar que 
compren estos monos u otro tipo de animales salvajes.

¿CÓMO?
Los fines de semana del 15 al 30 de julio el mayor número de gente cogerá el 
ferry hacia Marruecos.
Buscamos voluntarios para dirigirnos a las personas que esperan en sus 
coches para entrar en el ferry.
Trabajaremos en turnos de 2 personas durante 8 horas y cubriremos las 24 
horas del día, por lo que posiblemente podría tocarte un turno de noche.

¿CUANDO Y DONDE?
Del 13 al 17 de Julio y del 27 al 31 de Julio en el puerto de Algeciras.

¿QUÉ REQUISITOS NECESITAMOS?
	● A parte de español, es preferible que hables inglés y/o francés.
	● Si hablas árabe sería muy útil.
	● Preferiblemente gente del área de Algeciras para mantener los 
gastos lo más bajo 	posible (pero no 100% necesario).
	● Sensibilidad con la protección de la naturaleza y los animales.
	● Habilidad para estar de pie por largos períodos de tiempo y 
capacidad de trabajar 	bajo el sol.

¿QUÉ OFRECEMOS?
	● Pagamos tu transporte público hasta llegar a Algeciras y la vuelta 
a casa.
	● Intentaremos encontrar alojamiento si es necesario y hacernos cargo 
de los gastos.
	● Pagamos tu comida y bebida durante tu turno de trabajo.

VOLUNTEERS  FOR EDUCATION ON ILLEGAL TRADE IN THE BARBARY MACAQUE (monkey)

WHY
AAP, Sanctuary for exotic animals in the Netherlands, IUCN The Netherlands 
together with ANDA (Asociacion Nacional para la Defensa de los Animales) are 
looking for volunteers to help with an educational programme in the port of 
Algeciras.Many (Moroccan) Europeans go on holiday to Morocco during the 
summer and are tempted to buy wildlife, especially Barbary macaques and 
smuggle them back to Europe. An estimated 300 Barbary macaque infants are 
being captured from the wild annually in Morocco and if this continues, the 
already rapidly declining last population will disappear in the near future.
Once in Europe the infant Barbary macaques end up in private homes, 
sanctuaries, on the streets or are euthanised by the authorities. The 
problem is so large that many European sanctuaries have closed their doors 
to the species for shelter, because of lack of space.
We want to educate the 2 million people who cross the Stait of Gibraltar 
this summer on their way to Morocco, to persuade them not to buy monkeys and 
wildlife.

WHAT
The weekend around the 15th and the 30th  of July most people will take the 
ferry to Morocco. We are looking for volunteers to help hand out flyers to 
the cars waiting to enter the ferries. We will be working in shifts of 2 
people per 8 hours and 24 hours a day, so there is a possibility that you 
will have to do a night-shift.

WHEN & WHERE
13 – 17 July and  27 – 31 July in the Algeciras port (Sp)

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
•	Apart from Spanish we would prefer is you speak English and/ or French
•	If you speak Arabic that would come in handy
•	Preferably from the area of Algeciras if possible to keep costs as low as 
possible
(but not 100% necessary)
•	You care for animals and nature protection
•	Ability to be on your feet for a long time and work in the heat

WHAT DO WE OFFER?
•	We will pay for your public transport to get to Algeciras and back home
•	We will try and find accomodation for you if necessary and refund the 
costs
•	We will pay for your food and drinks during your working shift
